Alan Hunt has worked with animals in the wild and in captivity - in parks, zoos and reserves. Indeed, he has used his ability as a naturalist-guide for bird watchers and others interested in nature around the world.

Now he is regarded by many as being one of the world's leading wildlife and landscape artists but also, because of the enormous debt that he says he owes to wildlife for what it has done for him, he is known internationally as a leading conservationist. His paintings have raised over two and a half million pounds for this cause through The David Shepherd Conservation Foundation.

Since childhood Gary Hodges love of nature and wildlife has led him to apply this interest and knowledge to his pencil drawings. He won the Society of Wild life Artists / Worldwide Fund for Nature Fine Art award in both 1989 and 1990. In 1991 he was runner-up in the World Magazine "Wildlife Artist of the Year" competition.

Classically trained, but originally set on a career as a magazine-illustrator in England, Huw decided to go back to his first love, painting, at the same time as the family acquired their first thoroughbred.

He has been to many countries in search of that special piece of reference. Jonathan is well aware that as a professional artist specialising in animals he is working in a field where many have trodden before, so when working on location, he will hold a vision in his ‘mind’s eye’ and is never happy until he has captured that special image. With his dedication to the subject, Jonathan is constantly striving to create new images with individual qualities - and it is this that makes Jonathan’s work so highly collectable.

He successfully exhibited in the P.A.W.S. Competition in 1991 and 1992. With encouragement from his wife and friends, Peter produced and submitted a pencil drawing and a watercolour to the P.A.W.S. 1993 Competition. Both were accepted and exhibited - the first time one artist has been successful with two entries - and a special award was introduced for pencil drawing.

Spencer Hodge’s passion for nature and wildlife has proved to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration throughout his career. The many hundreds of hours spent studying wild animals and birds in their natural habitat are truly reflected in the precision and realism of his dramatic work.
